Tragedy Strikes as Three OOU Students Die in Road Accident

Three students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, lost their lives in a fatal car accident along the Ilisan-Ago Iwoye Road on Friday afternoon.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement issued on Saturday. The crash, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., involved a commercial Opel Safira vehicle reportedly traveling at high speed before it flipped off the road into nearby bushes.

One male passenger, believed to be an OOU student, died instantly. His body was transported to the General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode. Two female students—Dada Oluwanifesimi, 18, a Mass Communication sophomore, and Miracle Ogo Oluwa Daniel, 19, a junior—were rushed to Love and Care Hospital but succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Odutola described the sequence of events, stating, “The Opel was travelling at high speed towards Ilisan from the Ago Iwoye direction when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to flip into the bushes.”

Two other students sustained critical injuries and were immediately taken to the OOU Medical Centre for urgent care.

The accident vehicle, identified with the license plate Lagos AAA-126HE and driven by one Adekunkle Adebiyi of Sunmibare Street, Awa Ijebu, has been recovered and is currently secured at the police station.

“The vehicle has been recovered and is being stored safely at the station,” Odutola added. “Further updates will be communicated as they become available.”
