Ckay is the only Nigerian to make the 2022 Time’s Next Generation Leaders list.
This was announced by TIME on their official website on Thursday.
The Time’s Next Generation Leaders lists recognises 20-somethings who are working to create a better world.
Ckay, real name Chukwuka Ekweani is one of the most successful African recording artists, worldwide.
Speaking about his most successful song, “Love Nwantiti”, Ckay said: “If an artist makes something from his soul, people can tell, regardless of how fast or slow it is, or whether or not it fits trends.”
The song “Love Nwatiti” has garnered over two billion views on TikTok, nearly 500 million more on YouTube, and hit number one in several countries.
Ckay is expected to release his debut album later this year
Other notable names on the list include Bolor-Erdene Battsengel, a 20-year-old who is the youngest member of Mongolia’s Cabinet and Deepica Mutyala, an entrepreneur from South Africa.
