Fathia Ojewoye, a 14-year-old girl in Ogun State has been raped to death at the Agbeloba-Oriyonrin area of Abeokuta in the state.
She had been declared missing last Wednesday by her parents and her body was found three days after alongside her personal effects in an uncompleted building in the area.
Newsmen paid who visited the home of the deceased’s mother (who has been separated from her husband) found her being consoled by sympathizers.
The bereaved mother asked to be left alone when journalists attempted to speak with her. However, she vowed to make sure that Fathia’s killers were brought to justice.
A source in the area who spoke to a Punch correspondent said that the deceased was sent on an errand by her mother to refill the gas cylinder but she never returned home.
The teen was reported to have been seen with a young man while she was on the way to the gas station. He was said to have fled, apparently to evade arrest.
Fathia’s corpse was reportedly found in an uncompleted building near her grandmother’s house. She was defiled in a brutal way and later murdered by a yet-to-be-identified person(s).
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation into the brutal killing of the teenager had commenced.
