For iPhone owners, you can download the newest update to iOS from now on. With this update, updates such as new personalization features, deeper intelligence and seamless ways to communicate and share are added for more convenience.
Here are just some of the new features you get when you upgrade to iOS 16
Personalized Lock Screen
Apple is adding new features that you can customize your lock screen to match your phone. You can now change the font and weather widget, and choose what notifications will show on the lock screen.
Improved Message Editing
You can now edit a message on iOS up to 15 minutes after you have sent it. If you have accidentally sent something embarrassing or other content you don’t want, then it is possible to unsend it up to 2 minutes after having sent it. You can also mark a message as unread if you want to come back and read it again later.
Audio Messages
It is no longer necessary to listen to lengthy messages over and over. The new technology allows you to fast-forward, rewind, and skip ahead by using voice commands with your smart speaker.
Info about collaborations
You can now send a message to a group and have them automatically add into the spreadsheet or project you’re sharing. When they make an edit, it will be posted at the top of the text. You can do this by just sending a message and every recipient will be added to what you’re trying to share- whether it’s a document or spreadsheet.
Help others find your articles in one go with Share Tabs
You can share specific Safari sites amongst friends to collaborate on projects. Newly updated sites are shared with the group so everyone is on the same page at all times.
Siri Hanging Up
Instead of fumbling to find the phone, use “Hey Siri” to end a call. If you are being discreet, be aware that your call will hear you asking Siri to hang up.
Multi Stop Maps
The new multi-stop planner in Google Maps will be able to plot the best route of a trip in advance, taking into account several stops.
Improved Fitness and Health
The iOS 16 version contains a new Fitness app that is available to everyone. When you use the phone’s inbuilt motion sensors, then it provides an estimate as to how many calories you burned based on the steps you take, how far you traveled and if you are using third party fitness apps. This is different from the Apple Watch’s version of this app. In addition to this, there is also a new Medication feature included in the iOS 16 Health App. It lets you keep track of what medications you should be taking and when.
Lockdown Mode
Apple uses a feature called Lockdown to give security an extreme upgrade. The function will limit functions and provide a smaller attack area for malicious software, providing comprehensive protection for an unknown number of users.
The camera now translates text, other languages and even animal sounds
Perfect for that holiday to far-flung regions, this allows you to translate text around you using the camera in the Translate app. Just hold the camera up to the words you want translated, pause the view and the translation will be overlaid on the text in a still picture, allowing you to zoom in for a closer read. Alternatively you can translate text on photos in your library.
