According to a new report, All Too Well: The Short Film is eligible for Academy Award consideration and could make Taylor Swift EGOT status.
According to eligibility requirements, All Too Well could be considered for nomination for the best short film. Swift created, wrote and directed the film which stars both Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. The film premiered to a group of invited fans on November 12, 2021, at the AMC Lincoln Square in NYC, where it continued to screen through November 18.
There are three categories for Oscar awards for short films. They usually don’t receive as much fanfare, but some big players are vying for recognition this time. Taylor Swift is already working on the film’s campaign.
The Hollywood Reporter also reports Kendrick Lamar’s We Cry Together, which was released as a six-minute film in order to accompany his song of the same name, will be up against Swift’s entry. The short film was shown at the Laemmle Royal Theater in West LA this June, indicating it is eligible for the content.
A documentary is also being nominated by Reese Witherspoon. The film examines Jeremy Lin, a former New York Nicks superstar.
With Emmy and Grammy awards under her belt, she has already accomplished half of what the EGOT achievement is. With a song in the Oscars buzz and two chances to get the “O,” she may just be halfway there.
