From the debut studio album of the singer, Superstar was released by Empire Mates Entertainment on June 12, 2011. The album’s production was handled by Samklef, E-Kelly, Jay Sleek, Shizzi, DJ Klem, Masterkraft, Q-Beats, Banky W and Vebee. The album was supported by the singles “Holla at Your Boy”, “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull”, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo”, and “Oluwa Lo Ni”. It is the second bestselling album on NotJustOk and was the most highly anticipated Nigerian album of 2011.

    2. Jaiye Jaiye feat. Femi Kuti

Afrobeat meets afrobeat in “Jaiye Jaiye,” the lead single from Wizkid’s second album, Ayo. In this high-energy Sarz-produced track, the Nigerian star is given a helping hand and saxophone lines by none-other-than Femi Kuti.

    3. Caro

“Caro” is an undeniable jam. The Legendury Beatz-produced single was the first official recording released by Wizkid’s own imprint Starboy Entertainment. A collaboration between Wizkid and L.A.X, the song was such a massive success that it was added to Ayo as a bonus track.

    4. Show You The Money

“Show You The Money” was released as the sixth single from Ayo. The heavy dance track, which was produced by Shizzi, was paired with a music video that follows Wizkid to Surelere, the neighbourhood he grew up in.

    5. In My Bed

Wizkid’s “In My Bed” would become the seventh single of the tour de force that was Ayo. The pairing of South African outfit Uhuru ‘s beatwork with the Nigerian star’s plead for a girl to come home with him has made this one a DJ staple on dance floors across the globe.

    6. Ojuelegba

The song that kicked off Wizkid’s global rise. “Ojuelegba,” produced by frequent collaborators Legendury Beatz, is a rags-to-riches story of a struggling artist. The single is “inspired by his experiences and sojourn in and around this part of Lagos, Nigeria (Ojuelegba),” Wizkid’s team mentions. “Ojuelegba” was famously remixed by Drake and Skepta in 2015, sparking the relationship between the Toronto and Nigerian stars.

    7. Final (Baba Nla)

“Final (Baba Nla)” foreshadowed something big was coming from Wizkid. Released in late 2015, this sugary joint, produced by Legendury Beatz, is built on flute samples and keyboard jabs. It’s as addictive of a track as we’d come to expect from Wizzy.

    8. Daddy Yo

“Daddy Yo,” was Wizkid’s first solo single after signing a record-breaking deal with RCA Records/Sony, and the first we heard from Sounds From The Other Side. The track sees the Nigerian Starboy tackling some heavy reggaeton beats alongside Ghana’s Efya, who holds down the chorus.

    9. Fever

WizKid’s single, “Fever,” got A LOT of people talking due to its music video. In the video for “Fever,” Wizkid ropes in fellow singer Tiwa Savage to play his lover, and boy, do they look comfortable! The video was directed by Meji Alabi.

    10. Brown Skin Girl

Wizkid notably featured on the standout song from Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album, alongside Saint Jhn and Blue Ivy Carter. The song sees the Nigerian superstar harmonizing with Beyoncé on a beautiful and perfectly-crafted song dedicated to bringing pride, adoration, and celebration to dark-skinned women.

It hasn’t always been rosy for the one known as ‘Baddo’ and ‘Baddo Sneh’. He was born in Bariga, Lagos State, Nigeria without a silver spoon but was determined to make something of himself.

Olamide attended both primary and secondary schools in Lagos and furthered his studies by getting a Mass Communication degree from Tai Solarin University of Education.

He decided to pursue a career in music in 2000 after he realized he was talented in it. Armed with a creative brain and the will to make it or die trying, the young man chose to make his music in his native language, Yoruba.

Olamide released Eni Duro in 2010 under the Coded Tunes record label which had him signed at the time. It received national critical acclaim and instantly shot him to the limelight. Nigerians bore witness to an enigma who brought a different approach to the rap genre; a blend of street rhymes and dancehall beats which won him many fans in a very short time.

With all eyes on him, he performed at The Hip Hop Awards that same year (2010) and his debut album Rapsodi was released in 2011. Its lead single Eni Duro got airplay on many radio stations in Lagos and across the country.

Olamide’s impressive debut coupled with his unique rap led to collaborations with other artists including Wizkid, ID Cabasa, 9ice, Reminisce, and D’banj. He started his own record label, YBNL Nation, in 2012.

His second studio album YBNL was released in November 2012. Tyrone, Samklef, 2 Kriss, Pheelz, and ID Cabasa worked on the production. It featured Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kayswitch, Dammy Krane, Reminisce, Samklef, and others. It was promoted by the singles Ilefo Illuminati, First Of All, Stupid Love and Voice of the Street.

By this time, Olamide had established himself in the Nigerian music industry and had become a household name around the country. Children in the streets were often heard singing his songs, and even the old nodded as they enjoyed his melody. The young man with nothing but a dream and a drive had arrived!

On 7 November 2013, he released his third studio album Baddest Guy Ever Liveth. Its lead singles were Durosoke and Yemi My Lover. That was the year he became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with Ciroc.

In 2014, Chiori Daniel Cole, a representative of Achievas Entertainment Limited and Right Entertainment now known as TEC, started the movement to see him hold his first-ever concert, which has become one of the industry’s biggest (Olamide Live In Concert).

Olamide released the smash hit Bobo in 2015. It was another song that the public couldn’t get tired of. It enjoyed repeated airplay on many radio stations and the video saw the rapper showcase his dancing skills.

In 2017, Olamide sold out the Teslim Balogun Stadium. He has also sold out the Eventim Apollo and his Culture Tour alongside Phyno at the O2 Arena.

Olamide has been nominated and has won several music awards, including multiple Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies Awards. Almost every song from him is a potential hit and his street credibility is rock-solid.

It’s going to be a while before we see another like Nigeria’s baddest as his lyrical prowess and musical persona have tattooed his name in our hearts forever. Long may he reign!
