Armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen reportedly kidnapped four teachers and two children at Azagba Mixed Secondary School, Isele-Azagba , Delta on Monday.
The armed three men had stormed the school premises in a black Sports Utility Vehicle and beaten up the security men before heading to the classroom where four teachers and two children were abducted.
According to Punchng, a eyewitness said the gunmen shot into the air while holding their abductors.
“The children were sandwiched at the back of the SUV by some of the gang members before they drove menacingly from the school compound with the teachers.
“A bullet hit one of the teachers who is currently receiving treatment at the FMC. The kidnappers were three in numbers,”
The abducted teachers were identified as Mr Isiroro, Mr Okonta, Mr Ifeanyichukwu and the Principal of the school, Mrs Onyeje Bridge.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeyinka Adeleke, confirmed the abduction, he said,
“Yes, some teachers were abducted but they have been rescued this night but one of the teachers they shot is currently at the FMC Asaba.”
Efforts are made to reach the school management as soon as the case was reported.
