Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has taken to social media to mock the Mediterranean Knights of Libya for their time-wasting antics during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Uyo on Friday. Libya’s tactics, which included feigning fouls to disrupt the game, frustrated the Nigerian team for much of the match.

Despite the delay tactics, Nigeria emerged victorious with a late goal from Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who scored the winning strike four minutes before full-time, giving the Super Eagles a 1-0 win.

Nwabali, reacting to the Libyan approach, posted on his X handle in pidgin English, “Who come wise pass?” accompanied by a laughing emoji. His comment translates to, “Who is the wiser person now?”, poking fun at the Libyan team’s failed attempt to outsmart Nigeria by wasting time.

The two teams will face off again in a return leg in Benina next Tuesday, with the Super Eagles needing a win to secure their spot in the AFCON 2025 finals in Morocco.
