Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella as they continue their hunt in the transfer market. The agreement is still under wraps and nothing much has been disclosed so far, with City offering the Brighton man a five-year contract at the Etihad that runs till the summer of 2027.

The 23-year-old is ready to start a new adventure which is largely considered an upgrade to where he is. Cucurella is eager to move to the North and begin his new chapter at the Etihad but it depends on a lot of other deals. Manchester City are confident that Cucurella will be a success and an integral part of their future plans, with Pep Guardiola personally insisting on his compatriot at the Etihad.

Brighton signed Cucurella from Getafe last season after he graduated from Barca’s La Masia academy.  The Olympic silver medalist is happy to be linked to the Cityzens and sources close to him say that he is looking forward to the new season.

Recall that Chelsea were interested in Cucurella but a private source very close to Cucurella confided that he will do better at City, with discussions of Oleksandr Zinchenko set to join Arsenal later in the summer. Ben Chilwell has begun training following a six-month spell injured and Marcos Alonso intends to join Barcelona as soon as the market opens.

Cucurella is also enjoined to City because of working with Pep Guardiola who is his compatriot. The defender is waiting for both clubs to reach an agreement and make it public. Manchester City will also concentrate on signing a defensive midfielder. Wilfred Ndidi isn’t on the cards anymore due to his MCL. Options being considered include Kalvin Phillips and Italy’s Niccolo Barella.

Cucurella will undergo his medical once Brighton and Manchester City agree a price for the left-back.
