The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo has made a heartwarming gesture by offering a scholarship to Nkechinyere Umeh, the highest-scoring candidate in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
This announcement was made in a statement on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Christian Aburime. Governor Soludo extended his warm congratulations to Umeh, an indigene of Anambra State, for her exceptional performance in the UTME.
Umeh, a remarkable 16-year-old student from Amichi, a community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, attends Deeper Life High School in Mowe, Ogun State. Her outstanding achievement in the UTME earned her the coveted title of top scorer with a remarkable score of 360.
This commendable action from Governor Soludo arrives shortly after a revelation by Ejikeme Mmesoma, a student from Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, who admitted to falsifying her UTME scores.
In light of this, the governor’s scholarship offer to Umeh not only recognizes her well-deserved accomplishments but also serves as an expression of the state government’s gratitude for her dedication and hard work.
“The governor has announced a well-deserved scholarship for her to study any course of her choice at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, the statement read.
“The scholarship will not only serve as a token of the state government’s appreciation for her hard work but also provide her with the opportunity to pursue her dreams and contribute to the development of the state in the future.”
Governor Soludo also expressed his best wishes to Umeh for her future academic pursuits and urged young students in Anambra State to draw inspiration from her exceptional performance.
He encouraged them to take advantage of the enhanced and supportive learning environment in the state and strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
