Grainne Kealy’s forehead had to removed after a car accident years ago

A woman’s involvement in a car accident that led to her slamming her feet into her face has is now without a forehead.

36-year-old Grainne Kealy’s feet were resting on the dashboard when the car she was in crashed and her knees hit her face as the airbag got inflated under her legs.

The car was being driven by Grainne’s boyfriend when the accident occurred. He was traveling at 120mph when it crashed. She was 22 at the time.

Years later, Grainne is still recovering as doctors had to remove her forehead, something she says now makes her look “a little strange”.

Speaking from Laois, Ireland, she told Fabulous Magazine:

“When the jeep collided with the wall the airbags inflated as they do but because my feet were on top of mine it actually pushed my feet, knees first into my face.”

Grainne was rushed to the hospital with multiple facial fractures and she had a cerebrospinal fluid leak from her brain which required treatment by a neurosurgeon at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.

She explained:

“They told me that I had pushed in and up my face and they would have to basically pull it all out and put it back together.”

The operation was a success but she suffered complications and her forehead had to be removed.

In 2009, Grainne with a custom Italian ceramic forehead via plastic surgery. But she is still dealing with the after-effects of the accident.

I constantly lose words while in the middle of a conversation. This can happen to me 20 times a day. I get headaches when too many people are talking around and I sometimes find it difficult to stay focused,” she added.
