Sadio Mane has disclosed to close sources that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, following their Champions League painful loss to Real Madrid. The Senegal international has been on the cards of many clubs across Europe and the forward has been a phenomenal act for the Reds in his six seasons at the club.
The 30-year-old is now closing the chapter of his Anfield career having joined from Southampton back in 2016. Mane has scored 120 goals for Liverpool and made 268 appearances for the Reds. He has been vital to Jurgen Klopp’s successes at the Merseyside, winning every club competition with Liverpool and also winning the AFCON tournament in February.
Bayern Munich is the top contender to sign Mane and is very confident the player will agree to the terms of the contract. Mane currently earns £100k weekly but the Bavarians are looking to more than triple that amount to see him earn up to £250k weekly! Many fans are disappointed at the Reds board for not improving the player’s salary all this while.
Bayern are in direct contact with Mane as they look to secure a deal for the Senegalese superstar in a few weeks’ time. The wide man has been scouted numerous times by Bayern Munich scouts and their positive reports have helped to speed up the transfer. Mane is in the final stages of joining the German champions and will soon be in Munich to undergo his medical once the financial terms have been agreed on.
Liverpool are meanwhile turning their attention to other options to fill up the void. The Reds signed Luis Diaz from Porto in January and he has been an excellent addition to the squad. The club will also see Divock Origi leave on a free to Milan this week as he will undergo his medical in a few days.
Mane’s departure will e felt by many Liverpool fans who will most definitely miss his impact on the team. The search for his replacement has not yet begun but the club is confident of making a few signings this summer. Mane has one year left on his current contract at Liverpool and the transfer fee will not be high at all, thus making it easy for Bayern to finalize a deal. Real Madrid and Juventus are also distant admirers but it is very unlikely they will launch bids for Mane.
