Ex-Sporting Boss Prepares for Debut Match with United, Pending Visa Approval
Manchester United has confirmed the arrival of their new head coach, Ruben Amorim, at the club’s Carrington training complex. The announcement was made on Monday through a statement titled “Ruben Amorim arrives at Carrington” on the club’s official website.
The 39-year-old Portuguese manager flew from Beja Airport in Portugal to Manchester just hours after leading his former club, Sporting CP, to a 4-2 victory over Braga in his final match in charge.
Upon his arrival, Amorim was warmly welcomed at the men’s first-team building by United’s chief executive Omar Berrada, along with sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.
According to the club’s statement, Amorim will meet key staff members as part of his onboarding process, but he cannot formally begin his coaching duties until his visa is secured. Once that is finalized, he will have 13 days to prepare for his first game as head coach, with United set to face Ipswich Town away in a Premier League clash on Sunday, November 24, at 16:30 GMT.
