Following James Franco’s involvement in an alleged sexual misconduct allegation, another Hollywood actor, Robert De Niro, is now being sued by his ex-employee for sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
De Niro is one of the most acclaimed and celebrated actors of his generation, with an impressive list of movies in a career spanning four decades.
His company had sued the former employee in August for watching too much Netflix at work and charging frivolities on the company’s credit card.
The former employee, named Chase Robinson, had started working for the veteran actor as his personal assistant and had rapidly ascended the ladder to the position of Vice President of the company’s Production and Finance.
Robinson had been fired following accusations of dishonesty. Her departure had seen De Niro’s company file a lawsuit against her for $6 million.
Now, Robinson has filed a $12 million lawsuit of her own against De Niro for gender discrimination, harassment, and violation of labor laws. She intended to file her complaints before her exit from the company. She claims she was a victim of unwanted physical contact and verbal abuse.
It would be interesting to see how the lawsuit drama against De Niro plays out as he is well-respected and the accusations could taint his phenomenal career.
