A 61-year-old grandmother-of-17 has married her 24-year-old boyfriend, despite getting negative comments about their massive age gap. Quran McCain, 24, and Cheryl McGregor, 61, from Rome in the US state of Georgia, married on September 3 in an intimate ceremony.

Even though Cheryl is often mistaken for Quran’s grandmother, she says that they are madly in love with each other.

The couple live-streamed their wedding on their TikTok account. The 61-year-old bride walked down the aisle in a white wedding dress with a laced bodice. She had her hair in loose curls. Quran dressed up in an off-white suit and had dyed his hair and beard for the occasion.

“We were live on TikTok for the wedding. We had the wedding in Tennessee. My best friends were there and we went to bones BBQ joint after and got a very good meal,” Quran was quoted as saying by LADbible.

The pair met in 2012 when Quran was just 15 years old and worked at a fast-food restaurant managed by Cheryl’s son Chris. They were not in touch for years but reconnected on November 4, 2020, when Quran saw Cheryl at a convenience store at the cashier desk.

After they became a couple in April this year, Quran proposed to Cheryl on July 31 with a ring.

“There are many reasons why I chose to make Cheryl my wife. She’s beautiful, elegant, strong, noble, honest and compassionate. Cheryl was shocked as she didn’t know I was going to propose but it made her feel special. I haven’t been married before but she has,” Quran said.

Three of Cheryl’s seven children approve of the couple’s relationship. Quran’s family is supportive of their union.

However, the couple has received some negative comments on their relationship. “We get a mixture of positive and negative feedback. The worst is that I’m using her for money. Hate all you want, we still are going to live a normal life,” Quran added.
