The Presidential Task Force (PTF) has stated openly that rail transport would resume soon after domestic flight resumes operation.
The rail transport was also suspended along with ban of interstate travels, following the outbreak of the coronavirus ravaging the country.
The National Coordinator, Sani Aliyu said on Monday in Abuja at the daily briefing by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, that the rail transport would also commence as soon as the ban on inter-state travel is lifted.
Aliyu said the Task Force would work with the transportation ministry to ensure that the Nigerian Railway Corporation put measures in place to observe all its directives.
He said: “When the domestic flight starts, we would be reviewing the need for continued restrictions on interstate travels.
“We would be working with the federal ministry of transport to make sure that the necessary changes that the railways authorities need to apply in order to ensure physical distancing, reducing the number of passengers per carriage, wearing a face mask, measuring temperature are put in place.
“We know that they are aware of the directive but we will make sure that they are ready to resume.”
