Democrats have fired off at President Donald Trump after the U.S. leader’s tax history was revealed by The New York Times, showing that he avoided income taxes for 10 years.
According to the aforementioned news outlet, Trump paid no income taxes for 10 years of the 15 years before he became president, and his income tax payments in 2016 and 2017 amounted to just $750.
Democratic lawmakers descended on President Trump after the revelation, with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer asking people to raise their hands if they paid more than Trump.
Fellow Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell said the revelations were “disgusting” and that “the emperor had no clothes.”
