Controversial street-hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has broken his silence and revealed the reasons behind his absence from the highly anticipated pre-inauguration concert organized by President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The event, held at the prestigious M.K. Abiola Stadium in Abuja, attracted massive attention due to the inclusion of over 40 renowned artists who were contracted to perform in honor of Tinubu’s upcoming presidential tenure.
Curiously, Portable’s name was conspicuously missing from the list of performers, sparking speculation and raising eyebrows, especially considering his previous affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, for which he campaigned fervently.
Responding to the widespread inquiries regarding his absence, Portable seized the opportunity to remind his fans and critics alike of his active involvement during the campaign period, where he notably composed a compelling song endorsing Tinubu’s bid for the presidency.
Elaborating on his decision not to perform at the event, the street-hop sensation candidly revealed that he declined the opportunity due to a significant disparity in the financial compensation offered to him.
While other artists were being remunerated at a rate of 10 million nairas per performance, Portable disclosed that he was only offered a mere five million naira, an offer he found unsatisfactory and insulting.
Infuriated by the unequal treatment, the singer tearfully tore the contract sheet.
Furthermore, Portable didn’t shy away from criticizing fellow artists who he claimed had previously shown no support for Tinubu but were now eagerly rushing to extol his virtues as he prepares to ascend to the presidential office.
