On Monday, the residence of prominent political singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara was set ablaze by unidentified criminals. The incident occurred shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the winner of the governorship election in the state. Rarara is a well-known music artist of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who frequently performed at party rallies.
According to reports, the perpetrators forcibly entered Rarara’s house and began destroying property before setting it on fire. Security agents quickly arrived at the scene and dispersed the hoodlums, but as of the time of this writing, firefighters had not yet arrived.
This incident is a cause for concern as it is yet another example of the rising level of violence and insecurity in the region. It is unacceptable for individuals to resort to such violent acts in response to election outcomes or political affiliations. The relevant authorities must take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
