Famous broadcaster and socialite, Ifedayo Olarinde, widely known as Daddy Freeze, has expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent decision to remove subsidies on petroleum products.
The move by Tinubu, which was announced during his inaugural speech at Eagles Square on Monday, has sparked a wave of mixed reactions across the nation.
While addressing the crowd, President Tinubu confidently declared, “Fuel subsidy is gone,” signaling his administration’s commitment to implementing this policy.
The decision to eliminate subsidies has ignited a vigorous debate among Nigerians, particularly among opposition parties, with opinions varying widely. While some have commended Tinubu for his audacity in taking this step, others argue that the timing is unfavorable.
Daddy Freeze, known for his outspoken nature, took to his Instagram page to express his support for the subsidy removal.
In a post, he referred to an old tweet by Peter Obi, former vice presidential candidate, where Obi described fuel subsidy in the country as an organized crime.
Daddy Freeze wrote, ”Before you start complaining, even Peter Obi said he would remove subsidy.”
