French football star and World Cup champion, Paul Pogba, has received a four-year suspension from all football activities due to a doping violation.
This decision marks a significant setback for the career of the Juventus midfielder, who will celebrate his 31st birthday in March.
Pogba has been under provisional suspension since September of the previous year after tests conducted in August revealed abnormally high levels of testosterone, which is known to enhance athletic performance.
The disciplinary panel concluded that Pogba breached doping regulations upon detecting “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites” in his system, substances that are known to boost endurance in athletes.
In a subsequent move, authorities have re-examined a second sample from Pogba, culminating in the imposition of a four-year suspension. This penalty is among the most severe measures for such infractions.
