Olubunmi Fabode Shares How Prayers Prevented Divorce During Parents’ 40th Anniversary
Olubunmi Fabode, the eldest daughter of Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has revealed that her parents’ marriage endured significant challenges, which she described as a “battleground for generational curses.”
Speaking during her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary celebration in Lagos over the weekend, Fabode shared how her fervent prayers as a child helped save the marriage from ending in divorce.
“When I was seven years old, my father came to the room and told me, ‘Your mother and I are going our separate ways. I am telling you this so you can decide who you want to live with,’” Fabode recounted.
She admitted that while she did not initially care about her parents separating, her deep love for her siblings motivated her to intervene. “I knew that something had to happen to interrupt that plan. I prayed fervently for them because I absolutely love my siblings and couldn’t imagine us being split apart,” she said.
Fabode described her parents’ union as more than just a marriage, calling it a “battleground” where generational curses were confronted and ultimately defeated.
