Pastor Tunde Bakare’s Daughter Reveals Marriage Was a Battleground for Generational Curses

Olubunmi Fabode, the eldest daughter of Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has revealed that her parents’ marriage endured significant challenges, which she described as a “battleground for generational curses.”

Speaking during her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary celebration in Lagos over the weekend, Fabode shared how her fervent prayers as a child helped save the marriage from ending in divorce.

“When I was seven years old, my father came to the room and told me, ‘Your mother and I are going our separate ways. I am telling you this so you can decide who you want to live with,’” Fabode recounted.

She admitted that while she did not initially care about her parents separating, her deep love for her siblings motivated her to intervene. “I knew that something had to happen to interrupt that plan. I prayed fervently for them because I absolutely love my siblings and couldn’t imagine us being split apart,” she said.

Fabode described her parents’ union as more than just a marriage, calling it a “battleground” where generational curses were confronted and ultimately defeated.

Pastor Bakare’s Legacy

Pastor Tunde Bakare, a distinguished lawyer turned pastor, is widely recognized for his advocacy for good governance and nation-building in Nigeria. At 70, he remains a prominent figure in the country’s socio-political landscape.

In tributes, President Bola Tinubu highlighted Bakare’s pivotal role in leading civil demonstrations during critical periods in Nigeria’s history. Similarly, former President Muhammadu Buhari described him as “a living legend” and a “towering figure in nation-building,” praising his intellect, integrity, and courage.
