Nollywood Star Sets the Record Straight, Sends Prayers to Affected Communities
Popular Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has shut down rumors that she fled the United States due to the devastating wildfires currently affecting Los Angeles. The star took to her Instagram page to clear the air and reassure her fans about her safety.
Omotola confirmed that she and her family are doing fine and disclosed that she has been in Nigeria since December 2024. She emphasized that her decision to return home was not connected to the wildfires in Los Angeles, contrary to circulating reports.
In a heartfelt message, she expressed gratitude for the concern and love shown to her during the period of confusion. She also acknowledged the severe impact of the wildfires, which have left thousands displaced, including prominent figures in the area.
Part of her statement reads:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I want to take a moment to address the incredible outpouring of concern and support I’ve received over the past few days regarding the fires in Los Angeles. First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you who have reached out with kind words, prayers, and love. Your thoughtfulness means the world to me.
“To clarify and set the record straight: My family and I are safe. However, I’ve seen reports suggesting I had to leave the United States because of the fires. This is inaccurate. I have been in Nigeria since December 2024 and am still here presently. While I deeply cherish my connection to Los Angeles, these fires were not the reason for my travel. I kindly urge media outlets and individuals to correct this misinformation.”
Omotola went on to extend her thoughts and prayers to those affected by the ongoing crisis in Los Angeles. She described the city as more than just a place but a community that holds a special place in her heart. She also praised first responders and urged global solidarity in supporting victims of the disaster.
“This moment is a reminder of how interconnected we all are, regardless of where we stand in the world. It is a call to unity, resilience, and empathy,” she added.
Omotola ended her statement by encouraging everyone to support organizations helping those on the ground and assured her fans that together, affected communities will rebuild.
