The content of the NYSC Orientation course has been reviewed to align it with current demands. This was part of decisions made at the 2016 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Orientation Workshop in Calabar.
It was resolved that the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programme of the scheme would be given greater attention so as to deepen the corps members’ entrepreneurial zeal.
Also, lectures on the nation’s core values will now be delivered by the National Orientation Agency during the Orientation course.
The workshop further emphasized the importance of role-modeling and mentoring of Corps members by officials.
Participants agreed that henceforth, any Corps member caught with illicit drugs would be handed over to the appropriate security agency.
In his remarks, the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, charged all officers of the NYSC and the collaborating agencies to be alive to their responsibilities so as to ensure successful conduct of the Orientation course.
Kazaure also directed all State Secretariats of the Scheme to ensure that their camps were well prepared for the exercise, especially with regards to basic facilities such as accommodation and water supply as well as the cleanliness and safety of camp environment.
He reiterated the need for all officials to imbibe team spirit in order to enhance the success of the Orientation course.
