Chikezie Uwazie, a prominent actor from the early 2000s, passed away in the United States a few days ago after undergoing his second brain surgery. The news of his unfortunate demise has left his colleagues and fans in shock and grief.

Having left Nigeria for the United States over seven years ago, Chikezie Uwazie made a significant mark on Nollywood during his time in the industry. He showcased his talent in numerous Nigerian movies, including the critically acclaimed film “Musical Whispers.” This particular movie, produced by Ebele Okaro and directed by Bond Emeruwa, focused on autism awareness. Additionally, he made notable appearances in “Village Destroyer” alongside Osita Iheme and Ugo Ugbor, as well as “Last Kiss,” which featured renowned actors such as Emeka Ike, Ini Edo, Ejike Asiegbu, and Mercy Johnson Okojie, among others.

The devastating news of Chikezie Uwazie’s passing was first shared by his colleague, Obey Etok Chima, who took to Facebook to express her disbelief and grief. In her heartfelt post on Sunday, she wrote, “I can’t imagine I’m posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd brain surgery. Gini na emezi. I am so shocked to get this news this evening. Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform. I thought you told me you were going to the states for greener pastures. You promised to come back some years back, but I didn’t see you. Can’t believe you are gone, but God knows best. Rest on Chyko.”

The passing of Chikezie Uwazie marks the third tragedy to befall Nollywood in the span of just three days, following the recent deaths of Saint Obi and Murphy Afolabi. This series of devastating losses has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian film industry, leaving fans and colleagues in deep mourning as they remember the immense contributions these actors made to the world of cinema.
