Nationwide Deployment: 35 Commissioners of Police Assigned to Safeguard Nigeria

In a bid to strengthen effective policing, security, and the maintenance of law and order across Nigeria, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, has issued an order for the deployment of 35 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to states and formations nationwide. This directive comes following the approval of the Inspector-General’s recommendation by the Police Service Commission.

The deployment of the newly appointed CPs aligns with the commitment of the police leadership to ensure the safety and security of Nigerian citizens. The decision aims to foster effective coordination, intelligence sharing, and collaboration among security agencies in the country.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced the deployment in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja. The statement emphasized the significance of the postings in reinforcing the police’s dedication to maintaining law and order.

Among the newly posted CPs are Adelesi Oluwarotimi, who will be deployed to Kwara State; Adebola Hamzat, assigned to Oyo State; Augustina Ogbodo, appointed to Ebonyi State; Samuel Musa, assigned to Kebbi State; Aderemi Adeoye, deployed to Anambra State; Auwal Musa, assigned to Bauchi State; and Alamatu Mustapha, who will take charge in Ogun State.

Other notable appointments include Margaret Ochalla, who will lead the Police Special Fraud Unit Annex in Lagos; Banji Ogunrinde, the Head of the Explosive Ordnance Unit; Rhoda Olofu, who will oversee the Ports Authority Police in Western Lagos; Kareem Musa, appointed to the Interpol Annex in Lagos; Audu Dabigi, assigned to the Border Patrol Force; Abibo Reuben, in charge of the Police Mobile Force.

In addition, Adekunle Olusokan has been posted to the Welfare FHQ in Abuja; Omolara Oloruntola will serve in the Special Fraud Unit FCID in Abuja, while Abaniwonda Olufemi has been appointed as the Deputy Force Secretary, among others.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, has urged the newly deployed CPs to align themselves with his policies, vision, and mission for the Nigerian Police Force. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety and well-being of citizens and upholding principles of fairness, professionalism, and respect for human rights.

Furthermore, the Acting I-G urged the senior officers to lead by example and foster harmonious relationships with other security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders. He emphasized the need for intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention strategies, and community engagement initiatives to enhance public trust and confidence in the police.

The deployment of these Commissioners of Police represents a significant step towards enhancing national security and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens.
