The report that the Canadian government has offered asylum to DJ Switch, the songwriter and musician who streamed the soldiers’ invasion of the Lekki Tollgate last October has been received with excitement on social media.
DJ Switch, real name Obianuju Catherine Udeh, carried out a live stream of the Lekki tollgate incident via her Instagram handle, on Tuesday, 20th October, 2020.
Soldiers were said to have invaded the Lekki tollgate area of Lagos State, on 20th October, 2020 and shot at unarmed protesters.
The incident stirred controversy on the casualty figures as there was no evidence on the number of persons shot dead by the soldiers.
After the incident, DJ Switch claimed that she saw over 15 dead bodies after the soldiers shot at the protesters and alleged that she had received dead threats due to her role in streaming the incident on Instagram.
On Monday, the report that Dj Switch had been offered asylum by Canada appeared on the social media, as many Nigerians expressed excitement that the entertainer is now free from death threats.
DJ switch has been granted asylum in Canada. This is the best news I've heard today.
Now she can now speak freely without fear arrest by the same government that's supposed to protest her.
I wish her all the best life can offer.

If this gist about DJ Switch being granted asylum in Canada is true… Good call!????
A pity, that the people who swore to protect, are the ones we fear the most.
Waiting for the day she will break a global record and we will hear " Obianuju, Our daughter from Nigeria".

Leaving Nigeria for Canada was a good thing personally for DJ Switch,
But on a general note,
Why will a citizen not be able to live peacefully in her country cus she asked for her right?
