The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will bounce back and improve their performance in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, following their recent double-header matches against Guinea-Bissau.
During the first match, the Super Eagles lost 1-0 to the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau, disappointing Nigerian football fans. The second leg saw a victory for the Super Eagles, but their performance was still considered underwhelming for a team that has won the African championship three times.
According to Mohammed Sanusi, the Secretary General of the NFF, the federation has identified areas where the team needs to improve, and he is hopeful that the Super Eagles will soon regain their top form.
“We have assessed the team and identified areas where we think there is a need for improvement,” Sanusi said. “We are working to address these issues, and I can assure you that very soon, you will see a more improved Super Eagles.”
The Super Eagles will resume their quest for a spot in the AFCON 2023 in June, when they take on the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone. The team will be looking to secure qualification for the tournament, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast.
