The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, to seek legal redress if he feels aggrieved by the outcome of the recently concluded gubernatorial election. The APC made this known through a statement released on Thursday by the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Seye Oladejo.

In the statement, Oladejo criticized Rhodes-Vivour for not apologizing to Lagosians for his hate speech, religious bigotry, and tribal rhetoric during his campaign. He also accused Rhodes-Vivour of exhibiting immature grandstanding by refusing to accept defeat and playing the victim.

The APC spokesman went further to say that Rhodes-Vivour’s campaign lacked substance and that he failed to understand the political sophistication of Lagos voters, who were able to differentiate between political choices, religious beliefs, and tribal sentiments.

Oladejo also accused Rhodes-Vivour’s principal, Peter Obi, of hypnotizing his minority followers and of being consistent with Rhodes-Vivour in interpreting free and fair elections as only when they win.

The statement further criticized Rhodes-Vivour for ignoring incidents of violent attacks and killings of APC supporters across the state and for allegedly visiting unidentifiable and unverifiable patients.

Oladejo suggested that Rhodes-Vivour’s healing process should begin with an unreserved apology to Lagosians for attempting to desecrate the land, shedding needless blood, and insulting the ancestors. He also called on Rhodes-Vivour to approach the courts if he wants to challenge the election result.

The statement concluded by reminding Rhodes-Vivour that the election was over, and that Lagosians do not need any further distractions from him as Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu focuses on finishing strong and prepares for a greater Lagos in the next dispensation.
