ADC Governorship Candidate Endorses APC’s Tonye Cole in Rivers State
The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Tonte Ibraye, and his running mate, Tonto Dike, have officially endorsed Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Rivers State gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday. Ibraye made the announcement today in Port Harcourt, stating that the move was made to strengthen the opposition’s front and increase the chances of victory.
Ibraye clarified that the decision did not impact the state assembly seats being contested by ADC candidates. He called on other opposition parties, such as the Accord Party, Action Alliance, and Labour Party, to rally behind Cole for the betterment of the state.
Ibraye criticized the current ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for causing division in the state and emphasized the importance of removing them from power.
He emphasized that the opposition parties needed to unite to stand a chance of winning the election, and after consultations with party elders, they concluded that Tonye Cole was the best candidate to lead the state.
Ibraye praised Cole’s background, stating that he was not running for governor because he was unemployed, but rather because he had created a successful company that provided employment opportunities. He added that Cole’s manifesto for the people of Rivers State was exemplary.
Cole, in his response, commended Ibraye’s endorsement, stating that it was a significant step towards achieving a new government under the APC in the state. He also welcomed the opportunity to serve as a unifying force for the opposition parties.
In conclusion, Ibraye affirmed that the decision to endorse Cole was made in the interest of the state’s development, and they called on all opposition parties to support their joint effort to win the election.
