NLC President Pledges Urgency in Pursuit of New National Minimum Wage

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has declared that the Congress will be working towards a new national minimum wage with immediate effect.

He made the statement in his inauguration speech after being sworn in as the President of the in Abuja.

Comrade Ajaero was elected as the President of the at the 13th National Delegates Conference in Abuja.

He emphasized that the will be striving to establish a new national minimum wage law that will consider the current socio-economic state of the country, cover more workers and feature variables for automatic adjustments to prevent employer exploitation and lessen the burden on Nigerian workers.

He pledged the NLC’s loyalty to the workers and masses of Nigeria, and to be their voice and advocate in the fight against poverty and misery. The labour leader also stated that the would be engaging the Federal Government on ways to reduce the cost of governance and eliminate any opportunities for corruption.
