Kwankwaso was in Lokoja, Kogi’s capital city, to inaugurate the NNPP secretariat in the state when a mob began pelting him.

The NNPP office is located on Kunama road, close to the Kogi government house, near Dave Mercy, a major pharmaceutical outlet in the state.

On getting to a popular hotel where he was meant to address his supporters, suspected hoodlums invaded the venue and started throwing sachets of water at the candidate.

The security detail of Kwankwaso had to intervene to bring the situation under control.

Kwankwaso was also attacked when he visited the country home of the late Abubakar Audu, a former governor of Kogi state.

Audu’s residence is located in Ogbonicha, a few kilometers from Lokoja.

It is unclear why the NNPP presidential candidate was attacked by the mob on the two occasions.

The former senator would be the first presidential candidate to be attacked in the build-up to the 2023 polls
