Reports is that the move was in fulfillment of a promise made by the governor in 2017 when he expressed his commitment to reform the education sector in the state.

I will by personal example ensure that my son, that will be six years of age in 2019, will be enrolled in a public school in Kaduna State, by God’s grace,” the Governor said two years ago.

Little Abubakar was enrolled as a Primary One pupil into the public school as a key guarantee of his personal.

El-Rufai noted that reforming the education sector in Kaduna was a continuing struggle against decades of neglect.

We are determined to fix public education and raise their standards so that private education will become only a luxury.

As we make progress, we will require our senior officials to enroll their children in public schools.

And I will by personal example ensure that my son that will be six years of age in 2019 will be enrolled in a public school in Kaduna state, by God’s grace” he said.
