FUOYE Protest: 2 Students, A Police Officer Killed In Clash With Fayemi's Convoy

The Federal University of Ekiti, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has been left in chaos following an eventful occurrence on Tuesday evening involving students and the Governo’s wife convoy.

According to reports made available to talkGlitz,tv, the students of the school trooped out Tuesday morning to protest unavailability of power supply which led to roadblocks and bonfire. It was also reported that the Electricity holding company in the school environment was also razed by students in the protest. It was in the process Governor Kayode Fayemi‘s wife, Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi asked her security details to disperse the students.

talkGlitz.tv received further updates from students in the school that the First Lady’s security fired at students on the instruction of the Governor’s wife. “They started shooting sporadically – I’m talking about gun and teargas”, talkGlitz.tv’s source claims.  Almost a dozen got injured in the gunfire and two reported dead – not after a police officer was killed by the retaliating students.

As at 7.30pm, another police officer involved in dispersing students has been disclared missing and one of the persons shot in the gunfire was identified as Joseph Icon.
