Fayose Gives Reasons Why He May Quit PDP
The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has given reasons why he may quit the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) soon.

Speaking with Punch correspondent on Monday, Fayose hinted that he would soon renounce his “membership of PDP any moment.

After consultations, I will speak clearly to Nigerians”, he reportedly said.

Fayose’s preferred candidate for the PDP Presidential ticket, Aminu Tambuwal, came behind Atiku Abubakar who emerged as the party’s flag-bearer and this has been attributed to be the reason he wants to quit the party.

In a statement released by the governor, Fayose said “We have no regret aligning with Governor Wike to support Governor Tambuwal for the presidential ticket and no apologies either”.

“We kept the party alive and strong when most men became ladies. We never compromised. If any group feels it can do it alone, we will see how far they can go.

“I may renounce my membership of the party if the need arises. In the main time, myself and others will continue with our consultations while watching the turn of event.

“We cannot but appreciate leaders that have intervened so far, but this release became necessary to avoid fresh crisis or misrepresentation,” Fayose said.

Fayose has been known to be one of the strongest opposition to the APC.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had written to the Nigerian Customs to monitor and arrest the outgoing governor anytime he wants to run away from the country following an investigation of about N1.3 billion fraud case filed against him.
