Sanwo-Olu was announced as the election winner in the early hours of Monday.

Announcing the result at the Lagos headquarters of INEC, Oladiji Adenike, the returning officer for the election, said Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to win the election.

The LP came second with 312,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed in third place with 62,449 votes.

A total of 1,182,620 voters were accredited, while 1,155,678 votes were valid.

With the INEC declaration, Sanwo-Olu has secured a second term as governor of Lagos.

Before the declaration, Rhodes-Vivour called the election a sham, alleging “collusion between the ruling party and electoral officials”.

The flagbearer said the people witnessed “a slap on the face of democracy” and everyone who came out to vote for the LP on Saturday.

“In light of this, I am convinced beyond any doubt that the results being released by INEC do not represent the wishes of most peaceful Lagosians.

“More so the results from our field agents and situation room indicated that we won this election,” Rhodes-Vivour added.

LP Chairman in Lagos, Mrs. Dayo Ekong had asked INEC to cancel the poll, citing electoral malpractices, intimidation, and violence, among others.
