Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, the wife of a former governor of Oyo State, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his refusal to allow himself to be controlled by politicians who seek to act as godfathers in the state.
In an interview on Agidigbo FM in Ibadan on Wednesday, Ladoja stated that Makinde is not in the good books of certain politicians because he has not allowed them to dictate how he runs the affairs of the state.
Using a metaphor, Ladoja described Makinde as a tall man who cannot be easily pocketed. She argued that the development of the state should be the top priority of all well-meaning citizens and residents of the state, and that Makinde has performed beyond the expectations of Oyo residents, deserving a second term in office.
Ladoja called on Oyo voters to not only vote for Makinde but also for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for the State House of Assembly in the interest of sustainable peace and development of the state. She stated, “Only a fool will cover his head with a broom during the rainy and sunny season. God gives us an umbrella to protect us; don’t let the rain beat you, come under the umbrella. Makinde has tried his best. He will do more if re-elected. Don’t vote for those who will drive the vehicle of Oyo backwards. Don’t vote for Judas. Vote for the person that will better the life of your children.”
Ladoja also addressed allegations of bias by the Makinde administration, stating that the governor has been organizing Ramadan lectures for ten years and sponsoring Muslims to Mecca. She noted that Makinde has built the Omituntun Mosque, one of the five pillars of Islam in Mecca, and has been sponsoring people, showing that he has done what God wants.
