Popular Nigerian skit maker Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr. Macaroni, has reacted to a viral video of children imitating his well-known ‘Daddy Wa’ skits. The young content creators appeared dressed as adults, playing out Mr. Macaroni’s ‘sugar daddy’ character alongside others, including a lover and a wife.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday, Mr. Macaroni urged parents and guardians to exercise caution when showcasing their children’s talents. He emphasized the need for age-appropriate performances, expressing concern about children taking on roles meant for adults.

“Dear parents and guardians, I understand the urge to want to make the most out of our uniquely talented children. I however strongly believe that we must apply caution while doing so,” he wrote.

Mr. Macaroni pointed out that while it is important to nurture young talents, it should be done in a manner suitable for their age. He stressed that the focus should be on long-term development rather than fleeting viral moments, stating, “We must showcase their talents in ways appropriate for their respective ages. We owe them and our society that guidance.”

Acknowledging that children possess unique gifts, he agreed with the idea of nurturing talent from a young age but reiterated that it should be handled with care. He also advised that as children grow, they can gradually be given more freedom to explore their creativity at a pace that aligns with their maturity.

“As they grow, they can be allowed more creative freedom. One step at a time,” he concluded.
