Ijebu Ode, Ogun State – Nigeria is about to make another mark on the world stage, and this time, it’s through the sound of a sewing machine. Oluwaseun Lawrence Kuforiji, popularly called KOIL, is getting ready to attempt the Guinness World Record for the longest sewing marathon, sewing non-stop for an incredible 120 hours!
The event will run from January 22 to January 27, 2025, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where KOIL plans to show the world the beauty, skill, and resilience that come with sewing. This is not just about breaking a record; it’s about making history.
Who is KOIL?
KOIL is not your everyday tailor. With over 15 years of experience, he has built a name for himself as a creative and hardworking fashion designer. From his early days learning sewing in Abeokuta to building his brand, Koil Creations, with branches in Nigeria and the UK, KOIL’s work speaks for itself.
During his university days at Tai Solarin University of Education, KOIL didn’t just focus on studies. He grew his business, organized fashion shows, and even won awards for his designs. One of his major achievements was placing third in the SAED festival during his NYSC program in Abuja.
Why a Sewing Marathon?
For KOIL, this is more than just a record. “This is about celebrating the art of sewing and showing how important it is to our culture and everyday life,” he says. He also hopes to inspire young designers to keep dreaming big and striving for excellence.
Ijebu Ode, known for its rich history and innovation, is the perfect location for this event. KOIL chose the city to honor his roots and give back to the community that has supported his journey.

The event will be held in a public venue in Ijebu Ode, allowing people to come and watch history being made. Special seating will be available for sponsors, dignitaries, and media.
