Spidey fans who have been troubled about the web-crawler’s exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) should be excited now as Sony Pictures and Walt Disney Studios have officially announced a third movie in the franchise.
A while ago, a lot of fans were distraught over the news that the deal between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures had been called off and that Spider-Man would no longer feature in the MCU.
Now, it appears the two companies have settled their rift and this is what every fan must have hoped for.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who is onboard the third installment alongside Amy Pascal, was happy about Spider-Man remaining in the MCU.
I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what the future might hold.Kevin Feige – screenrant.com
The third Spider-Man movie will hit theaters on July 16, 2021. As part of the deal, the web-slinging superhero will also appear in another MCU film after 2021.
The latest movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), was a critical and commercial success, having grossed $1.131 billion on a budget of $160 million.
