With the year ebbing to an end, music awards will be warming up for nominations. Of course not leaving behind the most celebrated Hip Hop World Awards aka Headies 2017 which should be coming up next month.
Off all the new rave music artists in Nigeria right now, Mayorkun edges out with great impression in recent time.
An online poll was created by T.I.N Magazine a couple of months back listing, Dotman, Niniola, Mayorkun, DNA Twins, Nonso Amadi and Dremo as nominations. As at when filing this post, the poll has gathered 1837 Votes in 59 days with Mayorkun pulling over 50% of the total votes! The new Mayor of Lagos, as he now calls himself is unarguably the next rated artist in Nigeria right now giving other contemporary a chase for their stardom.
Mayorkun’s debut song, “Eleko”, brought him to the spotlight. Still having the radar over him, he made a great strike with “Mama”. He’s already in the work of hitting Lagos with his first major concert, The Mayor Of Lagos and he has a new song, ‘Che Che’ to usher in the event.
Initially, Davido was banking on Dremo, whom he threatened to pull the Olamide-stunt if he doesn’t win the NEXT RATED! But as fate may have it, Mayorkun came into the picture almost the same time and right now, he’s apparently the shooting star of the Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).
Mayorkun at the moment blows too hot to be in that next-rated category. But as it stands, he can’t skip the phase, even when we know it’d be an automatic win for him.
