The official trailer for DC Comics’ Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) sees Margot Robbie’s character bring out her inner madness.
The movie is directed by Cathy Yan with a screenplay by Christina Hodson and the plot picks off after the events of Suicide Squad.
Birds of Prey tells the story of how Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) joins forces with Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) when a girl named Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) stumbles on a diamond belonging to a crime boss called Black Mask (played by Ewan McGregor).
Screenwriter Hodson wanted to reinvent the character of Harley Quinn following her departure from the Joker and it seems Robbie’s portrayal of the unpredictably crazed woman is spot on.
The short trailer shows Quinn’s further descent into insanity as she squares off against the antagonist with the help of her new recruits.
The movie looks set to impress fans as DC Comics has been experiencing a renaissance of late, with the Joker movie being the latest impressive outing for the company.
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) should hopefully impress audiences when it is released on February 2020.
