Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has called upon his squad to uphold their exceptional standards as they pursue a historic treble, despite having already secured the Premier League title. City clinched their fifth league title in six years when Arsenal suffered a defeat against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, leaving Guardiola’s side with three games to spare.

The team celebrated their latest triumph by defeating Chelsea on Sunday and are now gearing up for upcoming fixtures against Brighton on Wednesday and Brentford on Sunday, which will mark the conclusion of their league campaign. However, City’s journey does not end there, as they are set to compete in the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley on June 3, followed by the highly anticipated Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul a week later.

Recognizing that a dip in intensity levels is natural after relentlessly pursuing Arsenal in the title race, Guardiola emphasized the importance of maintaining focus heading into the two upcoming finals. He called on his players to remain prepared and committed, stating, “They have to be ready to run a lot. The best way to prepare for the final is to be ready. The players set the standards; they have to maintain them.”

Guardiola acknowledged the inevitable decrease in energy levels due to the team’s involvement in multiple competitions, contrasting it with Arsenal’s sole focus on the Premier League. He stressed the need to avoid a significant drop in performance, as both Brighton and Brentford could pose a threat if City’s levels falter. Guardiola emphasized the importance of adhering to their game plan, adapting their style of play, and arriving at the finals against Manchester United and Inter Milan in optimal condition.

Fortunately, Manchester City’s deep squad allows Guardiola the flexibility to rotate players and provide necessary rest. In the recent match against Chelsea, Guardiola made nine changes to the starting lineup, granting England midfielder Kalvin Phillips his first Premier League start since joining from Leeds United. Guardiola emphasized that every player has a role to play and can make a significant impact, regardless of the minutes they spend on the field. He stated, “Everyone can have an influence; sometimes five minutes is as important as the rest. Everyone has been important, everyone has been involved in the fact we are where we are.”

With Pep Guardiola’s guidance and the team’s unwavering dedication, Manchester City aims to solidify their status as one of the most dominant forces in English football history by achieving an unprecedented treble.
