An unidentified man has been confirmed dead after drowning while riding on a jet ski at the Lekki-Ikoyi inland waterways in Lagos State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The unfortunate incident occurred at the Lekki-Ikoyi inland waterways when a male adult drowned due to excessive speed while operating a jet ski.
The agency’s responders on duty at the Lekki base were the first to discover the accident. Currently, teams consisting of LASWA divers and LASEMA officials are working to retrieve the body, which has unfortunately sunk too deep to be rescued.
The statement reads, “It was discovered by the agency’s responders on duty at the Lekki base that an unidentified male adult drowned at the Lekki-Ikoyi inland waterways as a result of overspeeding while he was riding on a jet ski at the said location.
Efforts are ongoing involving LASWA divers and LASEMA officials to retrieve the body of the adult male whose body has unfortunately sunk too deep to be rescued.”
