Lionel Messi has reportedly told Barcelona that it is his intention to leave Camp Nou this summer.
Messi made the statement yesterday, Sunday 16, 2020, according to Esporte Interativo, hinting at his being unhappy with the lack of dedication from the Barcelona squad and the way it is being run by the Blaugrana board.
The Argentine’s decision comes on the heels of his club’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals on Friday night in Portugal; a game which saw the final score end at 8-2.
It had been revealed earlier that Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is planning a massive overhaul of the club’s squad following Friday’s disastrous outing.
Messi’s contract with Barcelona will end in June 2021 and he can leave the club as a free agent once it expires.
