The Court of Appeal, situated in Abuja, has deferred its decision in the case brought forth by Abba Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State. He has challenged his removal from office as determined by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal made its ruling on September 20, where it invalidated 165,663 of Abba Yusuf’s votes. The basis for this decision was the absence of signatures and stamps from the Independent National Electoral Commission on the ballot papers. Consequently, the tribunal declared Nasiru Gawuna, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, as the victor in the governorship election.
Unsatisfied with this judgment, Abba Yusuf has lodged an appeal against the tribunal’s ruling, requesting the court to overturn the decision.
