The Kaduna State Peace Commission has called on citizens to cooperate and remain peaceful during the upcoming governorship and state assembly elections.
The Commission has promised to hold stakeholder engagements and urged citizens, particularly youths, party supporters, political party leaders, and candidates, to abide by the provisions of the law at all times.
The Commission emphasized that all forms of provocation, incitement, or non-peaceful reactions arising from the outcome of the elections should be avoided.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission praised the citizens of Kaduna state for the peaceful conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections held last Saturday. The citizens conducted themselves in an orderly manner, following the laid down procedures for the conduct of the elections across the State.
The Commission acknowledged the positive contributions of diverse stakeholders in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the elections, including key government institutions, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organizations, and the media, who worked together to achieve this.
The Executive Vice Chairman appealed for a similar level of cooperation and understanding during the upcoming elections, adding that the Commission will engage with all stakeholders in the state to ensure that the elections take place in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
