The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIEC) Thursday officially announced the results of the local government elections held last Saturday, following the controversy and tension they have generated.
The Chairman of KADSIEC, Binta Saratu Dikko, who announced the results at the commission’s headquarters in Kaduna, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ) won the chairmanship elections in 14 councils while the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in four councils.
Results in two local governments namely, Chikun and Kaduna South, were inconclusive.
She also announced that fresh elections in three other councils of Jaba, Kaura and Kajuru would hold on June 2, 2018.
According to her the APC won in Giwa, Igabi, Ikara Kaduna North, Kagarko, Kubau and Birnin Gwari.
Other councils won by the APC included Kudan, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Sanga, Soba and Zaria.
Dikko said the four councils won by the PDP are Jama’a, Kachia, Kauru and Zangon Kataf.
Kaduna has 23 local governments areas.
She added that those who emerged winners would be issued certificates of return on Sunday.
She said the official announcement was necessary following controversy surrounding the previous results.
The PDP had alleged that some of the returning officers were abducted and the process was manipulated.
