Yusuf Maitama Sule a former Nigerian Minister (then Federal Commissioner) of Public Complaints has been confirmed dead. From reports gathered from a family source, Maitama Sule died this morning at Cairo Hospital in Egypt.
Alhaji Sule was appointed the Federal Commissioner of public complaints in 1976. He also contested for the presidency in 1979 under the National Party of Nigeria but lost to Shehu Shagari.
He was appointed as an ambassador to United Nations after the coming of civilian rule in September 1979. He rose to become the chairman of the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid.
