Ex- Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has hinted at Napoli’s Victor Osimhen’s desire to join Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.
At 25 years old, the Nigerian forward is widely anticipated to depart Napoli after the season concludes, having recently revealed to journalists his decision about his future is made. In December, he signed a new deal with Napoli, incorporating a buy-out clause estimated between €120-130 million.
Osimhen’s potential transfer to the Premier League has garnered significant attention, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United among the clubs reportedly interested in acquiring him.
During his appearance at the Web Summit Qatar, as reported by Calciomercato.com, Mikel touched upon the connection between Osimhen and Chelsea.
“I believe there’s a real mutual interest. I’m certain Victor is keen on joining Chelsea, aiming to emulate my path as well as that of other Nigerian players who have donned the Chelsea jersey, like Victor Moses and Celestine Babayaro…”
Mikel then shifted focus to the competition Chelsea faces in the race to sign Osimhen.
“Of course, other teams are vying for him, including PSG and Manchester United, but I’m actively reaching out, sending him texts, endeavoring to ensure Chelsea remains his sole focus!”
